The duties and responsibilities of the Department of Public Safety shall be as follows:

1. Provides services to citizens and legal entities in the area of weapons, explosives, private security services, community safety and the prevention and reintegration of radicalized persons;

2. Monitors and provides advice on the field of public order and internal security for the organizational structures of the Ministry;

3. Proposes policies and strategies within its scope of responsibility;

4. Reviews applications related to weapons, explosives and private security services, and provides the respective recommendations;

5. Maintains and updates the database within the area of responsibility of the Department;

6. Performs other duties as defined by the applicable legislation.

Department of Public Safety is organized in two  divisions:

1. Division of Weapons, Explosives and Private Security Services;

2. Division of Community Safety, Prevention and Reintegration of Radicalized Persons;
