Division for Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (DAAE)

DAAE is responsible for planning, running, coordinating and overseeing of the work, in order to achieve its goals related to the control in the use of weapons, explosives and, to improve the results regarding the safety of Kosovo citizens, by reduction of risk of explosive materials.
  • The DAAE manages the overall work of the division and assists the director in setting objectives and developing a work plan to meet those objectives;
  • Manages division staff and, in collaboration with the director, organizes work through assignments to subordinates, provides guidance and monitors staff work to deliver quality products and services;
  • Assists the director in evaluating internal processes and procedures and recommends changes / improvements in order to increase the efficiency and quality of work;
  • Manages the provision of products and services in the field of law enforcement and the law on civilian use of explosives, coordinates, oversees and regularly reports on any permits issued by the division, the progress of the professional exam for weapon examination, export, transportation, import weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks;
  • Develops and proposes policies related to the field of weapons and explosives, monitors and supervises their implementation through initial, regular and routine inspections, investigates accident and incidents involving weapons and explosives;
  • Examines and provides comments on draft laws and bylaws and liaises with the Legal Department on developing of regulations on the scope of activity of the division, ensuring that the division operates effectively as an Explosives Notified Body (ENB) for Kosovo, in accordance with EU legislation;
  • Coordinates the work and collaborates with other managers in the institution, including but not limited to the preparation of work plans and proposals for the division budget, the delegation of assignments to the respective employees in accordance with their job descriptions and department needs, ensuring appropriate cooperation between MIA, KP, KFOR and other relevant institutions:
  • Regularly evaluates staff under his / her supervision and supports their development through training to perform their duties in accordance with required standards.
