The duties and responsibilities of the Legal Department shall be as follows:

1. Provides legal support in drafting strategic and legislative documents within the scope of the Ministry;

2. Provides assistance in drafting primary and secondary legislation within the scope of the Ministry;

3. Ensures compliance with the techniques and standards of legislative drafting within the scope of the Ministry;

4. Ensures the alignment of the Ministry’s legislation with the legislation of the European Union (Acquis communautaire), as well as with the applicable laws in Kosovo;

5. Provides legal advice and recommendations within the scope of the Ministry upon request;

6. Cooperates with the Ministry of Justice for the representation of the Ministry in judicial disputes;

7. Assists and coordinates the process of initiatives for international agreements within the scope of the MIA, ensures that the procedure is carried out in accordance with the Law on International Agreements, and maintains records of all international agreements concluded on behalf of the MIA and its agencies;

8. Performs other duties as defined by the applicable legislation.

2. Legislation Monitoring and Implementation Division;

3. Agreements Division;
