The Ministry of Internal Affairs has received information that citizens who have been provided with temporary license plates are being threatened by hitherto unidentified persons.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly condemns these threats against the citizens who have been provided with temporary license plates according to the Decision of the Ministry of Interior on 20 September 2021.

Such forms of threats directly affect the creation of a climate where citizens feel intimidated to live and act in their own country. These threats are unacceptable and are hindering the free movement of people and goods.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs notifies all citizens that the threat is a criminal offense and these and other forms of threats will be investigated by the Kosovo Police and measures will be taken according to law.

Despite this, the Ministry of Interior invites all citizens to be provided with temporary license plates and not to fall prey to these lynchings. From the decision for the placement of temporary license plates (20 September 2021) until today, 11500 plates have been issued.
