Temporary residence permit for foreigners

  1. Valid travel document with validity period of at least 3 months longer than the period of required residence permit.
  2. Marriage certificate, family certificate or the child’s birth certificate; in case of adoption the proof of adoption or in cases of guardianship, proof of guardianship;
  3. Document identifying a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo or the sponsor;
  4. Sufficient means for living which are proven through bank statement, employment contracts or other evidences that proves that the foreigner has adequate means of living;
  5. Evidence of ensured residence (evidence of ownership or notarized lease contract), with the necessary space for living according to minimum residence standards set by the legislation in power.
  6. Evidence that the citizen is not convicted, and evidence that the citizen is not under investigation by the state, citizen who is foreigner or from former state of residence, translated into the official languages of the Republic of Kosovo;
  7. Health insurance;
  8. Should not have been subject to a refusal of entry into the Republic of Kosovo;
  9. Proof of vaccination in cases when a foreigner comes from a country which is declared as having epidemic status.

In cases of application for temporary residence permits for the purpose of the family reunification on the basis of coexistence it is not required to be fulfilled requirement no. 2, but it is required evidence of 3-year cohabitation, or birth certificate in case a mutual child was born.


  • Valid travel document with validity period of at least 3 months longer than the period of requested residence permit;
  • Evidence on enrollment in any of educational institutions in the Republic of Kosovo;
  • Evidence on parents’ consent or legal guardian’s consent for the planned residence, whose purpose is the pre-university education in the Republic of Kosovo;
  • Sufficient means for living which is evidenced through a bank statement, or other evidence through which it is proved that the foreigner will cover living expenses, in cases of exchange students, evidences that the organization that manages the program will cover means for living, health care and the costs of return;
  • Evidence for accommodation, in cases when the foreigner resides to the family evidence that the family completes the conditions for accommodation under the legal provisions in power;
  • Evidence that the citizen is not convicted, and evidence that is not under investigation by state, whose citizen is a foreigner or from a former state of residence, translated into one of the official languages in the Republic of Kosovo;
  • Health insurance;
  • Should not have been subject to a refusal of entry into the Republic of Kosovo;
  • Proof of vaccination in cases when a foreigner comes from a country which is declared of having epidemic status.

    1. Valid travel document with validity period of at least 3 months longer than the period of requested residence permit;
    2. Evidence on enrollment in any of higher educational institutions in the Republic of Kosovo;
    3. Sufficient means for living which are proven through bank statement, or other evidences that proves that the foreigner has adequate means of living;
    4. Evidence for accommodation;
    5. Evidence that the citizen is not convicted, and evidence that is not under investigation by state, whose citizen is a foreigner or from a former state of residence, translated into one of the official languages in the Republic of Kosovo;
    6. Health insurance;
    7. Should not have been subject to a refusal of entry into the Republic of Kosovo;
    8. Evidences for cases when we are dealing with students exchange and youth movement or evidence for practice from the authorized organization, or on the basis of international agreements, as well as agreements among universities, as defined in the Article 57 sub-paragraph 1.2 and 1.3 of the Law on Foreigners;
    9. Proof of vaccination in cases when a foreigner comes from a country which is declared of having epidemic status.

    For temporary residence permits for the purpose of scientific research all above mentioned conditions must be fulfilled, except conditions in section 2 and 8, but
    the foreigner should submit also the invitation from the licensed institution of the Republic of Kosov


    1. Valid travel document with validity period of at least 3 months longer than the period of requested residence permit;
    2. Employment contract, according to the labor legislation of the Republic of Kosovo, exceptionally the employment contract is not required from the foreigner who is the owner of the business;
    3. Sufficient means for living which are proven through bank statement, employment contract or other evidences that proves that the foreigner has adequate means of living;
    4. Evidence that the citizen is not convicted, and evidence that is not under investigation by state, whose citizen is a foreigner or from a former state of residence, translated into one of the official languages in the Republic of Kosovo;
    5. Certificate of business registration;
    6. Evidence on education, gained qualifications and training of the foreigner, exceptionally this condition is not required for the foreigner who is the owner of the business;
    7. Should not have been subject to a refusal of entry into the Republic of Kosovo;
    8. Health insurance;
    9. Proof of vaccination in cases when a foreigner comes from a country which is declared of having epidemic status.

    In cases when the application for residence permits with the purpose of employment within annual quota of employment made by a foreigner who is
    employed in NGOs the condition in section 5 is not required, however a certificate for NGO’s registration in the Republic of Kosovo should be presented.
