The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, received today in a meeting a delegation from the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture, led by Victor Zaharia.
During this meeting, Mr. Zaharia, on behalf of the delegation, briefly presented the report prepared following the visits conducted to the institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the purpose of assessing compliance with human rights standards in the respective areas.
Minister Sveçla briefed the delegation on the commitments undertaken by our institutions to implement the recommendations from the previous report and, on this occasion, underlined that full commitment will be ensured in addressing the findings identified during this visit, which are expected to be published in the report to be released in July of this year.
On behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Minister Sveçla expressed his appreciation to the delegation of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture for its ongoing cooperation with our institutions in strengthening and enhancing institutional capacities, with the objective of ensuring the full respect of human rights.
