The duties and responsibilities of the Department of Naturalization, Asylum and Migration shall be as follows:

1. Reviews and decides on applications for naturalization and recognition of stateless status, international protection, as well as the residence of foreigners in the Republic of Kosovo.

2. Proposes policies and legislation in the area of citizenship, asylum and migration;

3. Contributes to the drafting and implementation of bilateral agreements in the area of migration;

4. Provides support in the return of foreigners to their country of origin or to a third country;

5. Receives, reviews and verifies applications for the readmission of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, third-country nationals or stateless persons, and submits readmission applications to other countries in accordance with the Readmission Agreements;

6. Provides consent for the issuance of visas upon request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, and reviews and decides on requests for the extension of visas within the country;

7. Cooperates with the Kosovo Police and other institutions for the prevention of irregular migration;

8. Perform other duties as defined by the applicable legislation.
