Press Release
Prishtina
Since the beginning of heavy rainfalls, which resulted in floods in several regions of our country yesterday during the daytime and night, the Operational Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has raised the level of commitment and extended coordination to all institutions to cope with this situation more smoothly.
In addition to the flooding situation, in some areas last night there were landslides and traffic jams on some national roads, but following the coordination and inter-institutional engagement, in the early hours of the morning all roads were opened and now all of them are passable.
The Professional Firefighter Units in cooperation with the Kosovo Security Forces managed to evacuate families that were trapped or exposed to potential hazards.
At the request of the Municipality of Mitrovica, the Emergency Management Agency sent a high-capacity pumping team for intervention, while a water tanker has also been sent to supply drinking water.
The Operational Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is collecting and documenting all requests in order to activate our capacities for immediate intervention in order to prevent any further deterioration of the situation.
We call on all citizens to cooperate with our institutions by contacting the following toll-free numbers:
