Czech Republic Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defense Visits Kosovo

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Xhelal Sveçla, today welcomed a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security, and Defense of the Czech Republic, led by its Chairperson Mr. Pavel Fischer, for high-level talks aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between the two states.

In the meeting held behind closed doors, Minister Sveçla expressed his gratitude for the visit, evaluating it as an opportunity to discuss issues of increasing cooperation between the two countries, further thanking the head of the Czech delegation, who is also the Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defense, Mr. Pavel Fischer, for the continuous support of the Czech Republic towards Kosovo. The Minister also extended to Mr. Fischer his appreciation for condemning the September 24 terrorist attack in Banjska and for the Czech Republic's continued interest in solving this case. He also thanked the Czech delegation for their support during the visa liberalization process, emphasizing the success of the process, which has not resulted in any misuse of free movement so far. During the meeting, Minister Sveçla presented the achievements of the Republic of Kosovo, which ranks first in the Western Balkans according to international reports.

Mr. Pavel Fischer, on behalf of the delegation, thanked the Kosovo side for the reception and congratulated the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for the successes achieved so far. He also underlined that he understands the challenges that the Republic of Kosovo is facing and congratulates the security institutions for their successful management. As the Chairperson of the Commission responsible to approve the deployment of military troops in KFOR, Mr. Fischer conveyed his satisfaction for the ability of Czech troops within KFOR to contribute to peace and stability in the country.

During the meeting, the security situation was also discussed, with special emphasis in the north of the country, and the ongoing destabilizing actions of the state of Serbia towards the Republic of Kosovo.

Despite the ongoing challenges, Minister Sveçla underscored the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo in providing security and maintaining peace and stability within our country, in our region and beyond.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to engage in the opportunities and potential of cooperation between their countries in the field of security.
